Planning to visit the Gold Coast, but want to make sure it’s family friendly? Travelling with kids can be a challenge and a delight, and there are certain strategies that you can put in place to make sure that this family holiday goes off without a hitch.

A home away from home

A family trip is so much more enjoyable when your accommodation offers the modern conveniences that you’re used to at home. Choosing self-contained holiday apartments gives you the best of both worlds. You get a prime location close to the beach, plus the ability to prepare home cooked meals, wash clothes (an absolute essential with younger kids), stock up with groceries for your stay, and throw all the kids in the bath at the end of a big day.

Somewhere for the kids to burn off energy

Being able to get outside, run around, swim, jump, and create is essential. It’s even better if you can achieve this without having to load everyone in the car. While exploring the Gold Coast and its many attractions is obviously a big part of a family holiday, at times you also want the ability to relax a little while the kids can play.

Choosing accommodation with great on-site facilities can allow you to do just that. Our guests can enjoy the sunshine while the kids splash around and swim in the heated swimming pool set amongst tropical rainforest gardens. The whole family can get involved in a friendly game of tennis with our full sized tennis court.

Just steps away from us is Budds Beach reserve, the perfect quiet family beach. It’s the ideal spot for smaller children, as there are no waves so they can splash around to their heart's content. There is also a playground, a jetty for fishing, and a boat ramp for anyone looking to cruise the riverways or jump on a jet ski.

And of course the world famous Surfers Paradise Beach is just a few blocks away from our apartments. Build sandcastles, take surfing lessons as a family, kick the footy around, swim, body board, or enjoy a nice long walk along the coastline.

You can take advantage of the barbeque area and cook up a meal to enjoy al fresco, and unwind after an action packed day in the sauna or spa. This family holiday is just sounding better and better right?

The best family attractions

One of the real highlights of a stay in Surfers Paradise is that you are well and truly in the heart of the Gold Coast, which means that the best attractions around are at your fingertips, or just a short drive away.

Surfers itself offers up fantastic family friendly fun such as King Tutt’s Putt Putt, the Slingshot Fun Park, Infinity, Ripley’s Believe it or Not Odditorium, the Gold Coast Wax Museum, Timezone, and the beachfront markets. Let’s not forget the famous Aquaduck tours, indoor skydiving, hot air balloon rides, day cruises like whale watching, fishing, Jet Boat Extreme adventure rides, the Skypoint climb, and so much more.

If you venture out a little more you can enjoy some of the worlds best theme parks. Thrill seekers will love Dreamworld, kids can meet their favourite characters at Movie World, families can cool off at Wet ‘n’ Wild or White Water World, and animal lovers will just adore Seaworld, Paradise Country, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, and Tiger Island and the wildlife park at Dreamworld.

However you choose to spend your family holiday, we know you will love your stay at Surfers Mayfair. Haven’t booked your accommodation yet? Check out our one and two bedroom self-contained apartments here.
